Susan Davis Trott has been painting since high school when she explored the galleries and museums of Washington DC as a teenager. She attended the art school at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond where she became further attracted to the culture and architectural details of historic cities. She graduated from Winthrop College in South Carolina where her teacher and mentor was the late American Precisionist Painter, Edmund Lewandowski. A resident of Charleston for over thirty years she worked for the local school district until retiring in 2012. She can frequently be seen painting outdoors in the downtown area. Her favorite subjects include buildings with interesting features or unique signage. She sometimes uses her large archive of photographs to depict buildings that are no longer here or have changed over time. To keep her drawing skills sharp she takes figure drawing classes and sketches from life frequently.
