"What a find to discover the Charleston Artist Collective. From the launch to the present, I have followed this amazing "collection' of local artists whose art is diverse and beautiful. I think so far, I have purchased 10 of these paintings ; a variety of art and artists. I have given some of these paintings to our children. Art collection often is expensive but the affordability of these beautiful paintings is a young collector's dream and some of the proceeds go to wonderful causes.

Mission Statement:

Our mission of the Charleston Artist Collective is to provide an platform for local artists to grow their potential and to provide collectors, young or experienced, access to original affordable art while giving back to Charleston area non-profits and organizations.

Who We Are:

The Charleston Artist Collective started as an online business and now has a store front that provides an avenue for local artists to grow their potential and to provide collectors, young or experienced, access to small pieces of affordable original art. Collectives are significant to the Artists' practice by providing a vehicle for combining inspiration, ideals and approaches. Creativity loves company!

How it Works:

Each month the artists paint their interpretation of a theme chosen by the Collective as a whole. The "themed" paintings are then available for sale online and ten percent benefits the designated local charity. The amount raised will be shown in a tally in the top right corner of the site. Creativity has a conscience! If you would like to nominate a charity, please email info@charlestonartistcollective.org.

Artwork:

Every piece is original! Our paintings are sold unframed because we believe framing is personal. You may choose something rustic, modern, or classic. Framing your piece gives it the personality that you choose. We are happy to help you frame your piece just contact us!

The paintings are typically either gallery wrapped or on flat canvas panel.

Shipping and Tax:

Any sales within the state of S.C. are subject to a 8.5% sales tax. All paintings are subject to a shipping and handling charge (starting at $8) based on size and weight of the work. All sales are processed through PayPal and will be shipped via the USPS or FEDEX within one week. Please contact info@charlestonartistcollective.org with any questions.

from the director

Thank you for visiting the Charleston Artist Collective website. I launched this website in 2010 in order to assist Charleston artists interested in showing outside of the conventional gallery scene. My goal is simple: To provide a fresh approach to representing artists through an innovative online gallery.

My passion for art led to my degree in Art History at the University of the South, including courses at Parsons School of Design in Paris and an intensive study on Pre-historic caves in the South of France.

My passion for collecting original art, however, came about during my five years managing a gallery in Park City, Utah that specialized in Russian Impressionism. During my years there I organized and directed art shows in Palm Springs, Philadelphia, Charleston and San Francisco. I also had the amazing experience of going to Russia to visit artists in their studios and select art for the gallery.

In 2006, my twin boys were born and my husband and I decided to return home to Charleston where I started a business helping local artists orchestrate their shows. After helping a group of artists put on three annual shows of their sketches, studies and practice work, I realized that I had not just my professional contacts and buyers around the country, but a lot of local friends interested in collecting affordable original art.

I discovered that I had talented artists eager to step up the hours they spent practicing their craft, and an ever-expanding group of people interested in buying their work. The blending of these two discoveries is what you see here: An online art gallery to show and sell the work of the artists involved in the Charleston Artist Collective.
