Beth Williams is an award winning artist and Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America. Beth earned a Fine Arts degree and Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education from Texas Tech University, and went on to teach art in schools and museums across the country and abroad. She began painting full time in 2009, pursuing a career in fine art landscape painting. Recently her work has been featured on One King’s Lane, as well as the Charleston Garden and Gun Jubilee, the Charleston Style and Design Magazine and the Charleston Art Mag. Beth's current work focuses on the diverse sea island landscapes that surround her home and studio on Edisto Island, S.C. She prefers to begin her paintings outdoors, observing nature and the fleeting effects of light on color, shape, and texture. Though currently expanding into oil, Beth’s medium of choice is pastel, which she prefers for its pure, luminous color and velvety finish, allowing her to capture a strong atmospheric quality in her landscapes. Uniquely flexible, pastel can be used wet or dry, enabling her to both paint and draw within a single composition. You can find her work in the annual juried Piccolo Spoleto Outdoor Art Exhibit in Charleston S.C. as well as the Charleston Artist Collective gallery and "With These Hands" gallery on Edisto Island, S.C.
