Dee has been drawing and painting since elementary school, learning from her father to work in oils and watercolor. She studied with retired portrait painter, Gertrude Whiting of the Art Student's League in New York, and with Jean Kirkhoff. She has continued her studies at the Gibbes Art Gallery School. Currently she is studying, painting and drawing the figure from life at Redux Contemporary Art Gallery. Oil painting is her primary medium. Dee is drawn to the gesture of the figure and the natural world, seeking to invoke a sense of life and motion that draws the viewer into the work. Her work has been shown in juried shows and a series of her paintings was published in a book, Blessed Paradoxes, in 1998.
