Janie Ball has been engaged in creating art, for as long as she can remember. Her desire to be a professional artist led to her decision to attend the Rhode Island School of Design, where she received a Bachelor of Fine Art and a Bachelor of Graphic Design. Being true to her academic training, Janie has had a successful marketing career winning ADDY and CASE Awards in graphic design. This year, Janie is honored to have her abstract painting "Wonderous Wetland" selected for the 2016 Piccolo Spoleto Juried Art Exhibition.
Most recently, Janie's artistic journey has included becoming a member of the Charleston Artist Collective. Janie paints daily, on location or in her light-filled studio, and weekly with the Sullivan's Island Plein Air Painters. Each of her paintings is composed of thoughtful shapes of color which when visually combined by the viewer "paint" the image, be it plein air, contemporary realism, or abstract expressionism.
A native of Charleston, SC, Janie feels blessed to have been raised in the Lowcountry on the Atlantic Ocean. Janie lives with her husband, Charlie Aikman, and their children on Sullivan’s Island, where she is continuing to chart her creative path, as an emerging oil painter.
