Slava Roubanov immigrated to USA from Russia in the early 90s. He graduated from the prestigious Sourikov Art Institute of Painting and Sculpture as a Theater and Film set designer in Moscow. He was an apprentice under some of the best stage designers at the time of Kourileno and Rynden; who were creating for the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow.
During a 15 year career in the former Soviet Union, Slava designed sets, lights, and costumes for more than 80 theatrical productions in over 35 professional theaters; including drama, opera, ballet, musical, and childrens theater. He was honored six times with inclusions in the Moscow Theatrical Unions annual exhibitions of the seasons best works of Moscow's scenic designers. He moved to Charleston in 2003. Slava had been employed as a freelance artist, staff artist drafter, and designer from the time he first moved to the US. Slava passed away in 2018 and in agreement with Slava's family, CAC continues to represent his work.
