Suzanne Keith Loechl

Suzanne absolutely loves color and patterns, and it shows in her work. She often uses an organic process of dripping and layering paint to achieve the effect she’s looking for. Her inspiration comes from the landscapes and people around her. She considers her work as an ongoing exploration, endeavoring to portray the natural and cultural world and those who live in it as strangely beautiful -- yet enormously fragile. Suzanne recently moved back to Virginia from Champaign, Illinois where she met her husband and raised her two wonderful children. Her academic degrees include a landscape architecture degree with an art minor from Virginia Tech and a masters of landscape architecture from University of Illinois. She’s always loved to draw and paint, and when she decided to drop organic chemistry for drawing, and forestry for landscape architecture she knew the creative path was calling her home! She’s painted much of her life, and began exhibiting professionally in the Midwest over the past fifteen years. Now she looks forward to making connections on the East Coast. She happily lives outside of Charlottesville with her husband, her dog and cat, and her mom.
