Pamela Macatee

“As an artist, I am telling a story about what matters to me...what attracts me, what moves me: the shapes of spaces, both positive and negative, a color, a shadow, a place. Colors and shapes that scream beauty want my attention and these most usually become a drawing or a painting. Sometimes it’s the objects themselves that bring me joy, and how the colors lie next to one another, the mystery of composition and movement and energy made visible.” Pamela Macatee grew up in Southern California but studied fine arts and art education at Wesleyan College in Georgia. Although teaching is a passion, she remains a working artist and always ready to explore a new image. In Georgia, she was involved with the Madison Artists Guild and the Lake Country Arts Alliance. Pamela was represented by Ann Reynolds and the Sunshine Village Art Gallery near Athens. She was honored to have work chosen to be in the permanent collection of Brenau University in Gainesville. A returned resident of Florida, she is inspired and transformed by this unique landscape: images of the coast, the sea and the marina as sailing SV Evermoor has become a new skill and passion as she and husband Van sail the waters of South Florida and the Caribbean. Pamela currently works out of the studio and collaborates with the painters of Zero Empty Spaces in Palm Beach. This summer she will begin work at the Village Art Studios in Tequesta. She has recently joined the South Florida painters showing through the Artist Collective, Palm Beach. Current teaching positions include the Lost Tree Art Center in North Palm Beach and the Easel Art Supply and School in Lake Park, Florida.
