Way Way Allen's studio is located at the top floor of the 1600 Meeting building, which houses many local creatives who have their hands in all sorts of projects. Way Way has been sharing a studio space with her close friend, Lauren Lail who sells vintage clothing and has more recently been designing clothing herself. The two used to have a space on King street but relocated to 1600 Meeting about a year ago. Way Way's studio is open with a lot of natural light and the other part of the room is used by Leapfrog. The communal space provides a lot of room for sharing ideas and support.
Way Way draws a lot of her inspiration from her surroundings. She has been a Charleston resident for about 13 years and most of her paintings have blues in pinks which are naturally inspired by ocean sunsets. Sometimes she will paint something and end up re-working and painting over the piece, which gives it more depth because of the extra layers of color.
She also draws inspiration from the colors and patterns in the clothing that Lauren sells. Lauren even used one of Way Way's paintings as the pattern for a skirt she made!
